The successful candidate will have a strong background in microbiology and aseptic technique, with recent practical experience in fermentation of yeast strains for protein production. You will be responsible for executing precision fermentation runs using equipment such as shake flasks and bioreactors, as well as troubleshooting challenges and unexpected outcomes during experiments.

Responsibilities
  • Execute precision fermentation runs using equipment such as shake flasks and bioreactors
  • Write, update, and maintain data reports, batch records, and SOPs on digital filing systems and hard copy lab-notebooks
  • Collaborate with downstream processing scientists in the bioprocessing team, and adjacent teams such as strain engineering and analytics
  • Troubleshoot challenges or unexpected outcomes during experiments and other processes
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in and out of the lab
  • Perform regular equipment maintenance and cleaning to ensure production capacity and quality
Requirements
  • Broad knowledge of microbiology and aseptic technique
  • Recent practical experience in fermentation of yeast strains for protein production
  • Experience operating shake flasks, and bioreactors of approximately 1-30L
  • Independent in media preparation, generating and maintaining cell banks, and carrying out process QC
  • Independent in methods for protein analysis, such as protein gels and Western blots
  • Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, proactive, and flexible
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of HPLC
  • Experience of working with filamentous fungi
