CAD Designer/Engineer Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer/Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D CAD models, layouts, and assemblies using AutoCAD and Inventor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural metalwork, staircase design, and construction, as well as experience with steelwork fabrication and relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Development:
  • Create, develop, and refine 2D/3D CAD models, layouts, and assemblies using AutoCAD and Inventor to meet project specifications, industry standards, and relevant guidelines.
  • Prepare detailed fabrication drawings for steel, aluminium, plywood, and GRP, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
Project Management and Coordination:
  • Ensure all design files and project documentation are systematically stored, organised, and managed in accordance with company protocols.
  • Create, revise, and manage project-specific bills of materials, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct site surveys and liaise with clients to gather essential data for design and project execution.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with internal departments such as Projects, Operations, and Procurement to ensure design requirements are fully understood and integrated into project plans.
Quality Control and Compliance:
  • Review, revise, and check models, layouts, and drawings to ensure they meet project specifications and quality standards.
  • Ensure all design activities comply with health and safety regulations, and actively promote safe work practices across all projects.

Additional Duties:

The successful candidate will also be required to perform any other reasonable duties as required, which are within their capabilities, to support the smooth running of projects and the overall business.

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD in 2D & 3D with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office package.
  • Professional qualifications in Civil/Structural/Building/Mechanical Engineering or Architecture to a minimum of HNC/HND are desirable.
