About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Ornithologist to join our team at SLR Consulting, a global leader in environmental and advisory solutions. As a key member of our ecology team, you will be responsible for conducting field surveys, analyzing data, and providing technical reports to support our renewable energy projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with and lead ornithology surveys, utilizing a range of survey methodologies and techniques.
  • Keep accurate field notes, adhering to scientific data collection principles, and store data effectively.
  • Analyze and present data, conduct desk-based studies, and draft technical reports.
  • Undertake other survey types as appropriate to your skill set and career goals, such as water vole and otter, badger, bats, and habitats.

Requirements
  • A degree in Ecology, Biological Science, or equivalent (MSc desirable).
  • Excellent bird identification skills and experience in ornithology survey techniques.
  • An understanding of scientific data collection methods and aptitude for accurate data recording and storage.
  • Experience working and navigating safely in remote upland environments, across all seasons.
  • Good theoretical grounding in ecology, survey guidance, and environmental assessment.
  • Demonstrable understanding of UK wildlife legislation and conservation status of UK bird species.
