Job Summary

We are excited to announce a unique opportunity for an experienced Health Visitor or SCPHN to join our 0-19 Public Health team as a Child Public Health Team Lead. This role will involve leading the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme in a variety of community settings, working closely with the Early Help team and other key partners.



About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in our public health team, working closely with children, families, and young people to improve their health and wellbeing outcomes. As a Child Public Health Team Lead, you will be responsible for managing an assigned caseload, providing clinical supervision, and contributing to the development of identified public health initiatives.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme in a variety of community settings, working closely with the Early Help team and other key partners
  • Manage an assigned caseload, providing clinical supervision and advice to colleagues
  • Contribute to the development of identified public health initiatives, working closely with local statutory and mainstream services
  • Provide high-quality care to children, young people, and families, using evidence-based programmes and materials
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including GPs, Midwives, and Social Care staff
  • Participate in safeguarding supervision, organisational, and team meetings as required


Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced Health Visitor or SCPHN who has a strong background in public health, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have:



  • Registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting) or due to qualify in 2024
  • Experience of working with diverse or disadvantaged groups, including children, families, and young people
  • Knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme and experience of delivering health promotion activities to groups
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Able to assess situations quickly and provide effective solutions
  • Able to communicate complex information clearly and succinctly
  • Able to work effectively with diverse groups, including fathers and extended family members


Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £38,890 - £44,884 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer a range of benefits, including a generous pension scheme, annual leave, and access to professional development opportunities.
