About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to join our team at Dummer Down Café & Grocery, a thriving café and retail space located on the outskirts of Basingstoke. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for producing and cooking food for sale in the farm shop, as well as developing menus and ensuring the implementation of our HACCP policy and food hygiene and safety procedures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Produce food to order, ensuring high-quality dishes that meet our customers' expectations
  • Manage the specials board to minimize waste and maximize sales
  • Organize the kitchen and its resources to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and well-organized, maintaining a 5-star food hygiene rating
  • Engage with our marketing team to promote the café and its food
  • Maintain and build relationships with key suppliers to source the freshest, local ingredients
  • Manage stock control and stock rotation to minimize waste and optimize inventory
  • Quality control of products leaving the kitchen to ensure consistency and excellence
  • Adhere to Honesty values and ethos, upholding our commitment to quality, sustainability, and customer satisfaction
Key Competencies
  • Strong understanding of quality control and food safety procedures
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Computer literacy and ability to use kitchen management software
  • Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and creative menu development
