About the Role

Marie Curie is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Healthcare Assistant to join their team. This exciting opportunity will see you work in partnership with University Hospitals Plymouth to enhance end-of-life care for patients.

As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining patients' hygiene, nutrition, and vital signs, as well as providing emotional support and ensuring comfort for those facing end-of-life care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering hands-on care and emotional support to patients and their families in the Emergency Department.
  • Identifying and assisting those nearing the end of life, ensuring timely transfers to their preferred place of care.
  • Providing specialised care within a community hospital setting.
  • Engaging a dedicated team of volunteers to provide companionship and practical support.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent alternative Level 3 qualification.
  • Recent experience in caring for and supporting patients at the end of life.
  • A passion, knowledge, and understanding of delivering person-centred care.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to make informed decisions.
  • Prioritising patient care, comfort, and privacy.
  • Experience working within a Multidisciplinary team, assisting in curating individual assessments and advanced care plans.
  • Knowledge of IT, particularly Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
