Our automation department is at the forefront of Brother's drive to automate processes worldwide. We work on projects from initial design to implementation, both in the UK and overseas facilities.

About the Role

As an Automation Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and improving our production lines and equipment. You will be involved in every stage of the process, from design to commissioning and improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed designs using CAD software.
  • Conduct research and analysis to ensure design feasibility and optimization.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of designs, modifications, and project progress.
  • Prepare project costings, including BOMs.
  • Perform testing and validation to ensure design performance and reliability.
  • Provide support for modifications and design changes found at build and commissioning stages of the project.
  • Support and troubleshoot existing equipment in BIUK and other group companies.
Requirements
  • Education to a degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a similar subject.
  • Experience in equipment design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of using 3D CAD.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and manufacturing processes.
Desirable Skills
  • Interest in system and mechanical assembly design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
