About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Cavendish Nuclear, part of Babcock International Group. As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering complex engineering projects and ensuring the safe and secure operation of our nuclear facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote effective collaboration across engineering teams and other functional groups
  • Assist in managing customer relationships, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers
  • Ensure procedures, codes, and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering activities
  • Communicate and manage task and project risks effectively
  • Produce, review, and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation, and technical reports as assigned
  • Evaluate technical issues to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements
  • Support the Project Manager in planning, controlling, and delivering tasks and projects
  • Make engineering decisions within your sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
  • Act as Technical Authority or Engineering Lead when authorized to do so
  • Exercise care for your health and safety and that of others, adhering to endorsed company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Nuclear experience is not necessary; we welcome applications from all engineering backgrounds
  • You are someone who owns and delivers, champions high performance, and is courageous to challenge the status quo
  • Knowledge of CAD tools and General Engineering Drawing Practice
  • Ability to build strong and influential relationships with key stakeholders
  • Experience leading a team
  • Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Holds or has the ability to obtain Chartered status
