Graduate Teaching Assistant - POST 16 Opportunity

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant - POST 16 to support students aged 16 and above in a dynamic school in South Shields. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons, providing one-on-one support to students, and helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will assist teachers in delivering high-quality lessons, provide individualized support to students, and help students develop effective study skills and strategies. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to ensure that all students have the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and supporting students in their learning
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them understand and complete their coursework
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support students in developing effective study skills and strategies
  • Monitor and record students' progress and provide feedback to teachers
  • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources
  • Support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) as required

Requirements

  • A recent graduate with a strong academic background
  • Previous experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant - POST 16 or in a similar role is desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young adults
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
