About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Field-Based Engineer to join our team at SSE plc. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in delivering construction requirements for our SSEN owned assets and associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of construction projects, ensuring safe and efficient execution of capital works, fluid-filled cable faults, asset portfolio plans, and connections.
  • Provide support to Project Managers, principal designers, investment managers, commissioning engineers, and members of the works delivery team to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage substation and cabling projects, including SAP resource and PM duties for internal delivery projects as required.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Design Engineers to ensure safe and efficient delivery of SSEN's capital portfolio externally and internally resourced.
  • Undertake SAP duties for internal delivery projects as agreed, and populate and amend white books as required for both faults/projects and update Maximo via MAD forms commensurate with job.
  • Support regions in fault scenarios as requested by Works Delivery manager/depot kV SAP authorisation, including full Sanction For Test (SFT).
  • Proven experience in testing and witnessing commissioning of HV/EHV distribution systems, and ability to carry out fault investigation, locations, and repairs on EHV fluid-filled cable systems.
  • Undertake project management duties on small-scale internal delivery projects as agreed.
Requirements
  • Current driving licence, as travel is required.
  • Proven experience in testing and witnessing commissioning of HV/EHV distribution systems.
  • Ability to carry out fault investigation, locations, and repairs on EHV fluid-filled cable systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
