Digital Director Channel Strategy

About the Role
The Business Director Channel Strategy is a senior role that requires delivering best-in-class global digital marketing and media solutions for key global clients. You must be digitally ahead, diplomatic, proactive, and solution-oriented.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-channel digital execution for a portfolio of clients, managing day-to-day senior contact points for cross-channel strategy and execution, and delivering the digital trading model, results, and end-of-campaign analysis.
- Develop best-practice-led cross-channel planning and digital direction.
- Deliver strategic search frameworks on a project basis, ensuring all stakeholders are involved in the development of the framework and output presented to the right audiences at client and/or agency local level.
- Ensure the team creates and updates account roadmaps for every client, covering testing, innovation, growth, and other elements associated with the department vision.
- Make continuous strategic and activation recommendations based on media owner's opportunities and innovations, working with various specialists and/or local teams to ensure effective implementation.
- Surface and share great work from the team, ensuring case studies are regularly created.
- Ensure all team members have SMART objectives and development plans, tailored to their needs, and these plans are being executed, reviewed, and tracked.
- Constantly review all processes, test and learn, optimization, budget management, and other processes to identify opportunities for improvement in effectiveness or efficiency.
- Overall responsibility for the soft P&L for the portfolio of clients assigned, including creating an annual Business Plan and updating the New Business sales Pipeline.
- Scope and resource teams based on client necessity, connecting internally to find required talent and/or opening external recruiting campaigns.
- Competently manage media finance, agency revenue reporting, and solve any outstanding finance queries.
- Integrate partnership within the GroupM Nexus community for driving channel excellence and growth.
- Contribute to multichannel New Business, including supporting pitches, building creds, launching new products and services, upselling/cross-selling, prospecting, etc.
- Support Senior leadership and line manager with regular updates on up-and-coming innovation, changes to the industry landscape.
- Provide direct support to your Line Manager and Head of, Business Director(s), Account Director(s), and wider team.
- Contribute to defining, designing, and delivering all processes, way of working, etc., including improving and scaling what's already in existence, creating new ways of working, and eradicating old ineffective and inefficient ways of working, and where possible, the inclusion/development of automation to help operate more effectively.
- Be commercially driven and forward-thinking in the expansion of business opportunities, entrepreneurial in mindset, and always looking to develop incremental or new services both centrally and locally.
Requirements
- Digital all-rounder with proven experience and strong understanding of multiple digital media channels (online display, social, paid search, SEO, programmatic, etc.) as well as a passionate following of new/emerging channels and technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, being able to confidently and clearly present work to clients, media owners, and internal stakeholders. Experience and gravitas to 'fly solo' and present to mid-to-senior-weight clients.
- Hands-on knowledge of tools such as Google Analytics and data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBi, Looker Studio), from a usability perspective (building/creation nice to have, not required).
- General understanding of ad servers and DSP technology.
- High-level numeracy and analysis skills, to be able to interrogate data and come out with actionable insights to inform business decisions.
- Ability to thrive and work independently in an incredibly fast-paced, dynamic environment, as well as collaboratively driving energy, passion, and direction of a 10+ member team.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills: ability to quickly and creatively solve issues (both technically and operationally).
- Ability to communicate process-driven approaches clearly and effectively to non-technical individuals.
- Track record delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience and knowledge of the different stages of the project management life cycle.
- Substantial demonstratable success in managing and leading digital teams.
- Proven success in stakeholder management and ability to build relationships with clients and partners.
- Experience in supporting new business pitches and leading organic growth of clients.
- Proven commercial success of driving business growth and creating new revenue streams.
- Proven track record in performance media and e-commerce and good understanding of the wider media mix.
- Strong understanding of cross-channel planning and buying.
- Leadership, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills.

- Active contribution to the wider Mindshare Channels & Solutions initiatives in London and in the EMEA region, as well as contribution and involvement within GroupM Nexus workstreams.
