Fusion People Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Workshop Controller to join their team on a permanent basis in the Midlands.

As a Workshop Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that plant repairs and services are carried out to a high standard and in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and planning the response for breakdowns, routine maintenance, and services. Key duties include:

  • Providing initial telephone support to triage breakdowns and resolve issues where possible
  • Managing the response if a fitter is required to attend, aiming to achieve a fix first time
  • Logging and allocating repairs, maintaining accurate records of work and stock
  • Appointing third-party repair companies when needed, raising purchase orders and approving invoices
  • Supporting fitters by ensuring they have necessary information and parts for tasks
  • Booking and coordinating service and inspection appointments with customers, optimizing fitter and plant availability
  • Liasing with the Hire Desk for plant availability and replacement plant needs
  • Identifying chargeable damaged repairs, ordering parts, and processing customer invoices
  • Updating and maintaining accurate stock records, service schedules, and breakdown records

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • Mechanical repair knowledge
  • Previous experience in a service and maintenance control role (advantageous)
  • A logical approach to prioritizing and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, proactivity, and commitment to high-quality work and standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills for both customers and fitters
  • Strong Microsoft Office understanding
