About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Scientist to join our team at Lonza. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for delivering technical solutions for the next generation of purification processes that meet industry demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of advanced primary recovery strategies and technologies.
  • Assess novel primary recovery technologies at laboratory and pilot scale.
  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable primary recovery processes and novel affinity purification methods.
  • Assess ligands and tag technologies for novel affinity capture steps.
  • Study ligand-protein interactions through in-silico and biophysical methods.
  • Develop and refine the process conditions for bespoke affinity capture methods.
  • Independently design studies, collect, evaluate, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to achieve project targets.
  • Write and execute detailed study plans with problem statements, success criteria, and timelines.
  • Author high-quality technical reports and publications with scientifically supported conclusions and recommendations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in the field of biotechnology, chemistry, or chemical engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in working in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience in the primary recovery area, such as depth filtration, centrifugation process development, novel affinity capture methods for mAb and Non-Mab (NMF) products.
  • Experience in writing scientific technical reports and publications.
  • Fluent English language skills.
