Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in shaping our underwriting strategy and risk appetite. Your expertise in commercial general insurance will be instrumental in developing and refining our risk appetite, determining appropriate rules and terms, and delivering profitable growth while managing insurance risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine our underwriting strategy and risk appetite
  • Determine appropriate rules and terms for commercial general insurance
  • Manage specific industry sectors/customer segments, taking a holistic approach to customer management
  • Handle complex cases and referrals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fair outcomes for our members
  • Contribute to strategic projects focused on commercial growth and product development
Requirements
  • Strong technical background in commercial general insurance
  • Effective management of underwriting accounts and portfolios
  • Input to the underwriting agenda and risk appetite
  • Proven track record in general insurance underwriting, particularly in managing risk selection and account performance
  • Strong technical skills in underwriting commercial non-motor products
  • Good understanding of wider functions such as pricing
  • Proficient in data analysis, ideally with a particular aptitude for tools like Power BI
