Contract Duration: 6 months

Working Hours: 2 days per fortnight

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Systems to join our team at JAM Recruitment Ltd. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical support to our Engineering Manager and external specialists during the development and analysis of platform power systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop design solutions to meet project or business milestones, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality results.
  • Manage requirements and acceptance criteria for systems or products, and develop associated documentation.
  • Understand contractual and performance requirements for various systems and support the definition of acceptance criteria and events.
  • Produce documentation required for design review processes, including diagrams, technical specifications, and design evidence.
  • Ensure design proving evidence is comprehensive and captured within requirements management tools.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company standards, and local business processes.
  • Undertake design reviews and presentations to customers.
  • Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities.
  • Review supplier documentation and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately.
  • Support the development of estimates for scope of work and resources required to deliver it.
  • Deliver technical input and engineering solutions in support of build activities, defect resolution, and change management.
Requirements
  • Technical report writing skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of engineering lifecycle.
  • Knowledge and experience in defence standards (advantageous).
  • Understanding of at least one of the following areas: Power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, power electronics.
  • In-depth understanding of at least one of the following areas: Power Systems Architecture, Power Systems Modelling (Simulation and Analysis), Power Generation and Distribution, Power System Protection and Co-ordination, Power System Operation, Power Electronics, Power System Earth Fault Monitoring.
  • Experience of working within a relevant Engineering role to industry codes and standards.
  • Experience of working in complex design programmes.
  • Experience of working on Electrical Power Systems covering elements such as Low Voltage AC, DC, Electrical Distribution, and Protection.

  • System Safety Justifications.
  • Technical presentations.
  • System calculations, modelling, and analysis.
  • Developing test procedures.
  • Attending factory acceptance tests.
  • Configuration and testing of equipment.

We are looking for a self-motivated, fast-learning individual with excellent team skills, who can prioritize and manage their own work with minimal guidance. Due to the nature of this role, you will be subject to security and export control restrictions.
