Centrica Energy, the trading arm of Centrica plc, is seeking a talented Graduate Trading Analyst to join our team. As a Graduate Trading Analyst, you will embark on a two-year journey, divided into three eight-month placements, where you will learn to approach complex business problems by working alongside experienced subject matter experts.

You will have the opportunity to work across various teams and functions, including trading and optimisation, gas, power, LNG, origination, finance, and risk. Your primary focus will be on supporting key commercial decisions related to commodity contracts and trading strategies.

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a strong understanding of numerical subjects, such as Applied Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics. Additionally, you should have experience with programming languages like Python, Matlab, C, or Java. Your ability to work with models, make and test hypotheses, and turn data into insightful information will be crucial.

We are looking for individuals with a high level of commercial awareness, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and flexibility to undertake a placement in our Denmark office. If you are a recent graduate or working towards a minimum 2:1 degree, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support key commercial decisions related to commodity contracts and trading strategies
  • Work across various teams and functions, including trading and optimisation, gas, power, LNG, origination, finance, and risk
  • Develop and maintain models to inform business decisions
  • Collaborate with experienced subject matter experts to approach complex business problems

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2:1 degree in a highly numerical subject
  • Experience with programming languages like Python, Matlab, C, or Java
  • Strong understanding of numerical subjects, such as Applied Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Flexibility to undertake a placement in our Denmark office
