Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist in Community Rehabilitation

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Services team in Enfield. As a Consultant Psychiatrist in Community Rehabilitation, you will play a key role in providing clinical leadership and expertise to our multidisciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the multidisciplinary team
  • Conduct clinical assessments and consultations for patients under the care of the Community Rehabilitation Team
  • Lead medical input and leadership in weekly multidisciplinary team care planning and risk management meetings
  • Responsible Clinician responsibilities, including attendance at and report-writing for Mental Health Tribunals and Managers hearings
  • Professional leadership and management activities related to the post and the wider service
  • Contribute to the development of clinical pathways and priorities of the rehabilitation services across the Trust
  • Compliance with legal obligations covering clinical practice, including the Mental Health Act and code of practice
  • Commitment to ensuring fair access to services for all
  • Compliance with procedures for reporting concerns about professional conduct or competence of medical or other colleagues
  • Active management of caseloads and response to new patients as referred
  • Liaison with Trust services and relevant non-statutory organizations
  • Maintenance of good relations with General Practitioners and other stakeholders
  • Participation in teaching and training of other disciplines
  • Full role in the wider academic activities of the service, including attendance and participation in academic meetings and journal clubs
  • Lead role for the service in terms of audit and other procedures to ensure good clinical governance
  • Encouragement to engage in research supported within the trust
Person Specification:
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Listed on the Specialist Register of the GMC Medical Register or eligible to register within six months
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualifications/certification
  • Approved under Section 12 of the 1983 Mental Health Act
  • Approved Clinician status
  • Training and experience in evidence-based interventions in rehabilitation
  • Membership of a professional indemnity organization
  • Engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience of Safeguarding Children Framework
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary teaching
  • Ability to take a leadership role in a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal and written media
  • Registered for the Continuing Professional Development Program in the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Publications in the field of Psychiatry
  • Management skills and experience of developing a service component
  • Experience working with different cultural backgrounds and beliefs
  • Demonstrable ability to relate well to people with chronic mental health issues and their families
  • Team player to fit in with multi-professional team
  • Approachable attitude to team members

  • Willingness to represent the service at Trust-wide meetings and in discussions with partner agencies and Commissioners
Disposition:
  • Ability to work and build relationships with other agencies and departments
  • Ability to work with Trust management in the spirit of mutually supportive co-operation
  • Ability to drive and willingness to use own car, expenses to be provided by the Trust at normal rates

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £99,532 to £131,964 per annum including HCAS.
