Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Bedford

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic school community in Bedford. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting students with diverse special educational needs, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance necessary for academic and emotional success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised and small group support for students with SEN, adjusting teaching techniques to suit different learning needs.
  • Assist teachers in implementing specialised education plans that cater to each student's unique requirements.
  • Help foster a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students feel encouraged and supported.
  • Collaborate closely with SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and other staff to create and apply personalised learning objectives and interventions.
  • Track student progress and behaviour, giving feedback to teachers and caregivers as needed.
  • Support the use of sensory integration and therapeutic techniques as required.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with individuals with SEN, preferably in an educational setting.
  • A genuine passion for helping students with special educational needs develop academically and socially.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with students, staff, and caregivers.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when handling challenging situations.
  • DBS on the Update Service
