Job Title: Critical Care Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Critical Care Nurse to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Critical Care Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients in our busy and challenging Critical Care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care for critically ill patients
  • Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers
  • Determine nursing priorities and plans patient care, informing the nurse in charge of any changes in circumstances that may affect patient care
  • Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust guidelines
  • Contribute to the development of Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit
  • Ensure due regard is given to customs, values, and spiritual beliefs of patients
  • Provide information and support to patients/carers, and ensure all those involved in the care are aware of changes in the patient's condition
  • Assist in the safe custody, checking, and administration of drugs, including inotropes
  • Develop/possess the clinical knowledge and skills to care for critically ill patients, including the management of patients with multiple organ failure and complex nursing needs
  • Develop/possess the ability to undertake expanded practice, in order to optimize patient care, in accordance with unit and Trust policies
  • Act at all times in a manner that upholds the reputation of the Trust and safeguards the wellbeing and dignity of patients and their relatives
  • Act always in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and Guidance documents and maintain active status on NMC Register
  • Take every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve knowledge
  • Identify objectives within a PDP that support the delivery of high standards of clinical care
  • Provide cover for and undertake duties of absent colleagues as necessary

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration
  • Experience in Critical Care nursing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
