Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Critical Care Nurse to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Critical Care Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients in our busy and challenging Critical Care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care for critically ill patients
- Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers
- Determine nursing priorities and plans patient care, informing the nurse in charge of any changes in circumstances that may affect patient care
- Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust guidelines
- Contribute to the development of Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit
- Ensure due regard is given to customs, values, and spiritual beliefs of patients
- Provide information and support to patients/carers, and ensure all those involved in the care are aware of changes in the patient's condition
- Assist in the safe custody, checking, and administration of drugs, including inotropes
- Develop/possess the clinical knowledge and skills to care for critically ill patients, including the management of patients with multiple organ failure and complex nursing needs
- Develop/possess the ability to undertake expanded practice, in order to optimize patient care, in accordance with unit and Trust policies
- Act at all times in a manner that upholds the reputation of the Trust and safeguards the wellbeing and dignity of patients and their relatives
- Act always in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and Guidance documents and maintain active status on NMC Register
- Take every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve knowledge
- Identify objectives within a PDP that support the delivery of high standards of clinical care
- Provide cover for and undertake duties of absent colleagues as necessary
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration
- Experience in Critical Care nursing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
