About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at Renishaw. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and integration of firmware across a range of our Laser Calibration products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Craft the architecture of firmware and implement new embedded protocols for our products to verify and calibrate machine tool performance across a range of industries.
  • Develop comprehensive unit and integration tests for your firmware to meet the standards required for high-quality product performance.
  • Conduct meticulous design and code reviews for your own work and with junior members of the team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with project and product managers to define product specifications that align with customer requirements.
  • Partner with electronics engineers to optimize system engineering.
  • Guide junior engineers through complex technical challenges and support their professional development.

Requirements

  • Qualified to degree level in Software Engineering or Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience working with microcontrollers and low-level protocols.
  • Passionate for developing product firmware with embedded C.
  • Experience in test-driven development/behavioral-driven development to ensure firmware quality.
  • Proficient in using RTOS and multithreaded techniques for embedded applications.
  • Knowledge of tools such as IAR, CLion, Eclipse, MCUExpresso, various Microsoft and Embedded IDEs, Enterprise Architect, and Atlassian suite.
  • Experience in designing electronic solutions, from schematic to PCB layout, bringing concepts to life through prototyping, and testing with EDA tools like Altium and Zuken.
