Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Development Lead to join our team at Renishaw. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for leading the development of our high-speed, high-accuracy automated data acquisition system.
About the Role
- Develop and maintain real-time software to control automated measurement systems and associated sensors.
- Design and architect new and existing software from system to unit level to meet requirements and specifications.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop new sensors and systems, and develop the software and algorithms needed to make best use of them.
- Conduct design and code reviews, and develop unit and integration tests.
- Write design documentation of a high standard.
- Liaise with application and product-support engineers to diagnose and fix issues found in the field.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in modern C++.
- A clear understanding of software design and architecture.
- A desire to write high-quality software.
- A genuine interest in developing and using your knowledge to solve problems in an innovative way.
- The ability to work in a team and to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- A degree in engineering, computer science or a related discipline.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience of embedded software design.
- Experience of Git / Azure change and project management systems.
- Knowledge of unit testing and test-driven development.
- Multithreaded programming on operating systems, such as QNX.
- A desire for continuous improvement of processes and practices.
- Abilities in mathematics.
- An understanding of electronics and mechanical engineering.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills. They will be able to work well in a team, sharing responsibilities and communicating clearly. Success in the role will require a willingness to own tasks, ability to work quickly and accurately, attention to detail, as well as the ability and willingness to learn.
