About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school setting in Winton.

The successful candidate will provide crucial support to students facing mental health challenges, helping them navigate their educational journey. You will work closely with teachers and families to foster a supportive environment that addresses each student's emotional and psychological needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Support: Provide specialised support to students with complex needs related to Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour, ensuring their individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) are effectively implemented.
  • Collaboration with Teaching Staff: Work with teaching staff to create an inclusive and engaging curriculum that addresses the specific challenges associated with Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour across various subjects, including outdoor education.
  • Learning Environment: Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment to promote social, emotional, and mental well-being, with a focus on addressing anxiety and behaviour challenges.
Requirements
  • A deep comprehension of the diverse needs associated with Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour.
  • An ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of individual students, particularly those facing mental health challenges.
  • A patient and understanding approach, when facing challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive and open mindset, working in a multidisciplinary team.
