Job Summary:

The Driver Team Leader plays a pivotal role within the hygiene operation, responsible for guiding a team of colleagues to achieve their region's collective goals and service levels. They serve as a bridge between frontline colleagues and depot management, ensuring effective communication and implementation of company strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team of driver colleagues, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high levels of performance and productivity.
  • Implement ongoing training initiatives to keep team members updated on new products, customer requirements, best practices, and company policies.
  • Take ownership of the team's area, overseeing day-to-day operations, resolving issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the recruitment of new drivers, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, completing observation days, and onboarding new team members.
  • Respond to urgent customer requests as directed by the scheduling team or management team. This may sometimes involve working extra hours.
  • Conduct comprehensive induction training for new team members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles.
  • Provide feedback on performance, including knowledge, attitude, and skill, to individuals and management.

Requirements:

  • Previous training/coaching experience is desirable.
  • Excellent Service Delivery and Driving skills.
  • Able to work effectively with Managers, Drivers, HR, L&D, and Health and Safety Teams.
  • Comply with and communicate/demonstrate Health and Safety regulations and COSHH, including always wearing appropriate protective clothing.
  • Demonstrate resilience and ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Hold a Full UK manual Driving License for a minimum of 12 months (Subject to insurance requirements), with a maximum of 6 points.
  • The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of an enhanced DBS check.
  • Due to the nature of waste handled and the customers serviced, it is mandatory for drivers to have vaccinations against Hepatitis B, tetanus/polio.
