As a Mandarin Language Specialist, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team driving forward investigations and directing projects. You will play an active role in making the information accessible and understandable to others, using your linguistic and cultural expertise.

This is a unique opportunity that goes beyond translation and transcription. Your knowledge of Mandarin language and culture, as well as your understanding of Chinese ideology and politics, will be invaluable assets in helping to safeguard the UK.

About The Role

You will work on tasks such as translation, interpretation, and operational work, including planning, casework, and training. Your analytical skills and technical abilities will enable you to piece together snippets of information and build an accurate intelligence picture.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a diverse team of technical experts, applying your language and communication skills to drive forward operations and shape Government policy.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need to be proficient in Mandarin language (C1 level) and have excellent written English. You will also require a good knowledge of Chinese culture, history, religion, and politics.

During the interview process, you will be required to pass a language proficiency test by reading and translating newspaper articles and broadcasts.
