Meaningful Impact in Reinsurance Analytics

We are seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our Ceded Re Data and Analytics team and contribute to Markel's Ceded Re analytics capabilities. This role will allow you to make a meaningful difference in how we use our data to improve our ability to analyze reinsurance structures and optimize reinsurance spend.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of Markel's Ceded Re analytics capabilities to improve our ability to analyze reinsurance structures and optimize reinsurance spend.
  • Collect and prepare data from internal data hubs for Reinsurance renewal submissions, partnering with Reinsurance Placement colleagues to ensure timely and accurate exhibits.
  • Build engaging data stories by performing movement analysis and investigating material developments.
  • Support post-placement data capture and portfolio analysis, including spend analysis, cost allocation, and impact on profitability.
  • Improve current processes and develop reporting solutions and data visualization techniques to provide valuable Ceded Reinsurance insights and services to the business.
Requirements:
  • Some experience in the actuarial domain.
  • Understanding of insurance and actuarial concepts.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Power BI.
  • Experience with data manipulation tools like SQL, Alteryx, or similar.
