Job Description

As a Software Development Engineer III at Entain, you will be responsible for ensuring that our systems meet the highest quality standards by performing functionality, integration, reliability, performance, and compatibility testing against the business requirements.

Reporting to the Tech Lead, you will work within a cross-functional agile team where you will take a significant part in planning the product development phase while being responsible for creating end-to-end test plans, executing them, ensuring that all testing objectives are met.

You will take a leadership role in planning the product development phase while overseeing activities across our locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform manual testing on the in-house betting terminals, racing terminal, and gantry systems projects to ensure that the system is in its best quality before being released into production along a release cycle.
  • Working in Agile methodology, you will be responsible for attending sprints, planning sessions, test preparation, execution, closure report, attending daily face-to-face catch-ups, testing relevant issues throughout the sprint planned, and attending the sprint retrospective.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize the testing approach and implement automation where feasible.

Test Techniques / Process

  • Develop test conditions, scenarios, cases, and scripts according to the specific test phases (e.g., functional test, integration test, etc.).
  • Hardware Testing – OS installations, reimaging, troubleshooting, integration testing of various hardware peripherals like printers, scanners, NFC readers, screens, card readers, etc.
  • Based on the product's requirements, you will be responsible for defining, developing, and executing test plans and test cases to meet the product goal.

Test Planning and Documentations

  • Contribute to and influence test planning at a strategic level, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Perform test-related tasks and guide more junior team members in adhering to key test deliverables.
  • Document and validate high-quality defect reports, leading defect triage sessions when necessary, using the company's task management system (JIRA).

Domain Knowledge

  • Provide technical support within a team of SDET specialists, contributing expert knowledge and best practices.
  • Mentor junior SDET engineers and promote continuous learning.

Relationship Management

  • Maintain a strong relationship with team members across multiple locations and act as a point of contact for test-related activities across the product/program.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in QA practices such as functional, non-functional, and automation testing.
  • Experience in hardware testing.
  • Experience of sports betting/gaming industry would be preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Agile methodologies and practices, with proven experience leading QA efforts in Agile environments.
  • Effective in both Waterfall and Agile software development lifecycles.
  • Able to work within a cross-functional team environment, with defined planning and control processes.
  • Attention to details and out-of-the-box thinking.

Communications

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with internal and external staff at all levels, including presenting and defending QA approaches to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Organisational and Problem Solving

  • Ability to identify problems and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Self-organizing, able to prioritize own workload and seek input from stakeholders when required.
