Key Responsibilities for a Behaviour Mentor:

  • Provide individualised support to students with ASD and SEMH needs, promoting their well-being and encouraging positive behaviour.
  • Promote all students to improve behaviour through educational activities whilst also supporting and managing social and emotional needs.
  • Help students feel accepted in their differences and channel new outlooks to feed an exceptional future.
  • Assist in implementing effective teaching strategies and interventions to enhance the learning experience for students with SEMH.

Requirements of a Behaviour Mentor:

  • Previous experience working as an LSA or youth mentor, ideally with a focus on ASD and SEMH.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding.
  • Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies and interventions, as well as a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Relevant qualifications and certifications in SEN support are desirable but not essential.
