About the SEN Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in Watford, Hertfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEN in their learning and development. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individualized support to pupils with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assisting teachers in planning and implementing personalized learning plans to meet the unique needs of each pupil.
  • Creatng a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages pupil participation and engagement.
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher to inform future support strategies.
  • Building effective relationships with parents and guardians to ensure they are informed about pupil progress and support initiatives.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting pupils with SEN.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of the school's policies and procedures, particularly those related to safeguarding and health and safety.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Essential: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Desirable: Relevant qualifications in education or childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with the challenges faced by pupils with SEN and effective strategies to support them.
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this SEN Teaching Assistant role is £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications.
