Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Camden. The position involves supporting a child in Year 2 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to a child in Year 2 with ASD, ensuring their learning needs are met.
Assist with the child's educational, emotional, and social development, promoting positive engagement within the classroom.
Collaborate with class teachers and SENCO to implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and behavioural strategies.
Encourage and support the child's communication, independence, and confidence-building.
Manage challenging behaviours with patience and understanding, using positive reinforcement techniques.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall support plan for the child.
Requirements:
Prior experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly ASD.
A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
Ability to work as part of a team, following instructions from the class teacher and SENCO.
A relevant teaching assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
A current DBS check or willingness to undergo a new one.
Working Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday, school hours.
