About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health Rehabilitation Service at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing medical input into our in-patient rehabilitation unit and Community Rehab Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage patients with complex mental health needs, providing medical input into care planning and ensuring appropriate clinical assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care, including community rehabilitation and in-patient services.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, taking into account the bio-psycho-social needs of patients.
  • Contribute to the further shaping of local rehabilitation services, working closely with the Specialty doctor post and Nurse Practitioner Approved Clinician.
  • Supervise junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care.
Requirements
  • General medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) and a Licence to Practise.
  • MRCPsych or recognised equivalent, membership of a psychiatry college in another country.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or ability to obtain approval before starting post.
  • On Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Additional clinical qualification.
  • Experience of medicine outside psychiatry, general practice, or medicine.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the post within the NHS or comparable service.
