Quantitative Energy Markets Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantitative Analyst with expertise in energy markets, particularly oil, products, and biofuels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in market risk processes, trade control, and the full lifecycle of trading deals, as well as experience with data management, cloud platforms, and data transformation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Middle Office, Risk, and Data Management Optimization:
    1. Lead projects to enhance the performance of Middle Office functions, including Market Risk and Trade Control, through process automation, data management improvements, and enhanced reporting.
    2. Oversee the analysis of physical and financial positions to ensure they align with the firm's risk framework and leverage cloud data platforms to store and manage these datasets effectively.
    3. Drive automation and improvement of risk management processes using cloud data management tools and ensure seamless data integration across platforms.
    4. Leverage tools such as Databricks, Power BI, and Power Automate to automate workflows, build dashboards, and improve reporting efficiency.
    5. Lead the development of data pipelines and cloud data architectures for risk and trade control processes.
  2. Scenario & Stress Testing:
    1. Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis on both aggregated and strategy-specific levels using cloud data platforms to model, process, and store stress test results.
    2. Apply data transformation techniques to clean and prepare data for various risk metrics and performance analysis.
  3. Cross-functional IT & Risk Data Projects:
    1. Lead data-related projects within the Market Risk team, working across multiple commodity classes to improve management information systems, data architecture, and reporting capabilities.
    2. Collaborate with IT to develop and enhance Risk reporting activities within the company's Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) system and cloud data platforms.
    3. Build and manage cloud data platforms to support market risk and trade control data pipelines, leveraging advanced data architecture principles.
    4. Ensure best practices in cloud data management, data governance, and security protocols are applied across the risk team for consistent data quality.
  4. Risk Reporting & Cloud Data Architecture:
    1. Prepare and review daily P&L and risk reports, ensuring the integration of cloud data solutions for more efficient and accurate reporting processes.
    2. Maintain a thorough understanding of key risk metrics (e.g., VaR, Stress Testing, Greeks) and implement data-driven improvements to these metrics using Power BI for enhanced reporting and visualization.
    3. Design and maintain a scalable cloud data architecture to support large datasets and complex analysis for Market Risk and Trade Control.
  5. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration:
    1. Collaborate with IT, Front Office, Back Office, Planning & Control, and Finance teams to ensure alignment and integration of data and risk reporting processes.
    2. Interface with stakeholders to deliver timely and accurate data insights and risk reports via automated platforms like Power Automate and Power BI.
    3. Lead data management efforts and act as a subject matter expert for cloud-based solutions, data integration, and risk reporting automation.
  6. Team Development:
    1. Mentor team members and raise the profile of the team by promoting best practices in data management, cloud platforms, and risk analytics.
    2. Drive innovation by adopting new technologies and optimizing cloud data platforms to improve team performance.
