Support Worker/Coordinator for Immunotherapy and Acute Oncology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker/Coordinator to join our team in the Immunotherapy and Acute Oncology department at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patients with cancer who are experiencing side effects of their treatments or presenting to hospital in an unplanned way.
Main Duties of the JobThe Support Worker/Coordinator will work closely with the Band 5 Coordinator for Immunotherapy and Acute Oncology, as well as the Acute Oncology team, to provide support for patients who have been diagnosed with cancer and are acutely unwell. This will involve liaising and coordinating referrals, maintaining accurate records, and providing administrative support to the team.
The Support Worker/Coordinator will also be responsible for providing a link between the Immunotherapy and Acute Oncology teams, working closely with allied health professionals to ensure timely and accurate referrals are made to appropriate services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to patients with cancer who are experiencing side effects of their treatments or presenting to hospital in an unplanned way
- Liaise and coordinate referrals between the Immunotherapy and Acute Oncology teams
- Maintain accurate records and provide administrative support to the team
- Work closely with allied health professionals to ensure timely and accurate referrals are made to appropriate services
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths
- Education to at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of competency
- Relevant experience in a health or social care setting, or demonstrable transferable skills
- Experience of working within a diverse team
- Familiarity with and confidence using databases such as Outlook, Excel, and other packages
