We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Stroke Physician Leader to join our team at the North Bristol NHS Trust. As a key member of our Comprehensive Stroke Centre, you will play a vital role in driving improvement within acute stroke services for Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to the development of our hyperacute stroke unit (HASU) and acute stroke unit (ASU). You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of acute services, participating in Mon-Fri transient ischaemic attack (TIA) clinics, and handling ward referrals at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

You will also be expected to provide bi-weekly Consultant level input to patients cared for in the SSARU's at South Bristol Community Hospital or Weston General Hospital, deliver TIA (at Bristol Royal Infirmary) / neurovascular outpatient clinics, and supervise and educate junior staff.

In addition, you will contribute to clinical audit and research projects, including 24hr acute thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy, TIA clinics, and sub-acute stroke rehabilitation. You will work closely with our team of 16 consultants from various backgrounds, leading the Trust's Comprehensive Stroke Centre.

Essential Requirements
  • To be expert in and committed to the care and management of people with stroke in all phases of their care.
  • To be committed to helping build a stroke centre of excellence both in patient care and research.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
  • A Higher academic qualification e.g. PhD / MD.
  • CCT in Stroke Medicine.
  • Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required to gain UK CCT in General and Geriatric Medicine or Neurology or Acute Medicine.
