Role Overview

We are working with an outstanding school in Islington, North London, to find a talented Child Psychology Support Specialist who will join their established SEN department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology graduate to enhance the learning experience of young learners with Special Educational Needs, helping them overcome emotional and social barriers to achieve academic success.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing group or 1:1 interventions, promoting self-esteem and independence, and establishing constructive relationships with pupils. The role requires strong communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Support pupils to make good academic progress under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader.
  2. Set challenging expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
  3. Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils with emotional or social barriers to learning.
  4. Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  5. Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  6. Provide feedback to pupils on progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. An honours degree in Psychology (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent.
  2. Some experience working with children and those with Special Educational Needs.
