About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Governance and Risk Manager to join our Financial Services Advisory team at BDO UK.

As a Governance and Risk Manager, you will be responsible for leading the planning of assignments and organizing the delivery of work, developing more junior team members, and supporting senior managers, directors, and partners with developing and maintaining deep client relationships, business development, and assisting with the team's strategy.

You will have the opportunity to develop specialist sub-sector knowledge, lead on assignments within your specialism, and help develop the technical and regulatory knowledge of the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning of assignments and organize the delivery of work
  • Develop more junior team members
  • Support senior managers, directors, and partners with developing and maintaining deep client relationships, business development, and assisting with the team's strategy
  • Develop specialist sub-sector knowledge
  • Lead on assignments within your specialism
  • Help develop the technical and regulatory knowledge of the wider team

Requirements

  • Experience working within a professional services, consulting, or financial services firm or regulator (FCA or PRA)
  • Knowledge and experience of corporate governance, board effectiveness, credit risk, risk management frameworks, SMCR, operational resilience, conduct risk, D&I, and culture
  • Functional knowledge of the UK financial services regulatory environment (FCA and PRA)
  • Strong reporting, writing, and presentation skills of current economic and market trends
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present information in a clear manner
  • Project management skills and a track record of delivering high-quality outcomes
  • People management experience
