Auditor Position

Positive Employment is seeking an experienced Principal Auditor to join our client, a large local government organisation. This is a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Principal Auditor, you will be responsible for delivering the Audit and Counter Fraud Service to our client and external clients. You will work closely with all levels of officers and members within the relevant Council to gain an in-depth knowledge of the strategic direction and issues faced by the organisation.
You will take an active role in advising on the effective management of risk exposure and the internal control framework. Additionally, you will conduct original research on new auditing techniques in relation to data analysis and lead in this area.
Requirements- A professional accounting or auditing qualification and membership.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of compliance with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS).
- Operational experience at a strategic and operational level.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in conducting audits on various areas, including contract auditing.
- Understanding of auditing methodology and principles at a strategic level.
- Knowledge and experience of corporate governance, including risk management, internal control environments, and frameworks.
- Knowledge and experience of Local Government, its organisation, and funding.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, such as Accounts and Audit Regulations, Anti Money Laundering, Human Rights, and DPA.
- Detailed knowledge of audit tools, controls, and control tools, Benchmarking, and other Quality Assurance tools.
Please note that this role is inside scope of IR35. A hybrid working environment is available.
