Finance and Accounting Specialist for Primary Care

Apart-time opportunity is available for an experienced Finance and Accounting Specialist to support our practice in maintaining its financial health and integrity. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial services, including payroll processing, budgeting, and financial reporting. This role requires a pro-active approach to problem-solving and strong analytical skills.
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and motivated individual to work closely with our Practice Manager and GP partners to ensure accurate record-keeping, financial analysis, and compliance with relevant regulations. Key responsibilities include managing day-to-day financial transactions, preparing financial forecasts, and ensuring seamless operation of accounting software such as Xero and PayeDoc.

The Tutbury Practice is a rural general practice serving patients from nearby areas. We value reliability, compassion, and patient-centered care, and foster a warm and welcoming atmosphere in our workplace. Our team includes two GP partners, three salaried GPs, a clinical pharmacist, a nurse practitioner, and a dedicated administrative and reception staff.
Responsibilities and Requirements
This part-time position (20 hours per week) offers the opportunity to develop your skills in finance and accounting while contributing to the smooth operation of our practice. Your key duties will include:
• Financial oversight
• Payroll processing using PayeDoc
• Data entry and record-keeping using Xero
• Administrative support
• Financial forecasting
• Day-to-day financial transactions, including invoicing and petty cash
• Additional responsibilities as required by the Practice
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
• A recognised bookkeeping or accounting qualification
• Strong analytical and numeracy skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero and PayeDoc
• Ability to use initiative and judgment
• High levels of integrity and loyalty
• Sensitivity and empathy in distressing situations
• Ability to work under pressure and manage own time
• Commercial awareness
• Present professional approach at all times
• GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
