Job Title: AWS Cloud Software Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Software Engineer to join our team at Sanderson Government & Defence. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying cloud-based solutions for our Defence and Cyber Security programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop cloud-based solutions using AWS technologies, ensuring scalability, availability, and performance.
  2. Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  3. Take ownership of solution design and architecture, ensuring alignment with business and technical constraints.
  4. Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior team members, promoting best practices and innovation.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and engage suppliers and delivery teams, ensuring effective solution delivery.
  6. Develop technical strategies and roadmaps that align with business cases, policies, and enterprise standards.
  7. Make informed design decisions, balancing risk and complexity.
  8. Provide technical design authority and governance for allocated programmes and projects.
  9. Resolve technical disputes and provide technical consultancy for new initiatives.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  1. Strong experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  2. Proficient in Cloud technologies, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  3. Good knowledge of CI/CD practices, including Jenkins, GitLab, and GitHub.
  4. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, and Puppet.
  5. Knowledge of container technologies, including Docker, Rocket, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
  6. Experience with Zero Trust and Micro Services Architectures.
  7. Proficient in Java and other languages, including Python.
  8. Experience in full-stack system design and testing frameworks.
  9. Experience with Linux and Windows platform development.
  10. Experience with Oracle Relational Databases and Mongo.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Hands-on leadership experience, providing clear guidance and architectural vision.
  2. Planning and coordinating software development activities.
  3. Self-driven and self-motivated, with a superior attention to detail.
  4. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
