Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced English Teacher to join our team in Havant's secondary schools. As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that introduce students to the beauty of classic and modern literature, from Shakespeare to contemporary voices.

Your primary focus will be on teaching English Language and Literature to students at KS3 and KS4 levels, fostering an environment that encourages analysis, debate, and interpretation. You will also be expected to help students develop strong writing and language skills, teaching them to express themselves with clarity, creativity, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Lesson Planning: Design and deliver engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring every student can engage with the material in a meaningful way.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust your teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Classroom Management: Establish a safe, inclusive, and well-organized learning environment, promoting respect and engagement among students.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to refine your teaching skills and stay updated on best practices in English Language and Literature education.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in English or a related subject.
  • Experience: Proven experience in teaching English Language and Literature at KS3 and KS4 levels, with a passion for creating engaging lessons.
  • Skills: Strong classroom management skills, a deep love for language and literature, and the ability to share that passion with students.
