London, Greater London, United Kingdom Forestry Commission Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Area Land Agent to join our Estates team in the East England Forest District. Your role will involve regular travel throughout the East England District and to other offices nationally, so a full and valid UK driving license is essential.

  • Manage landlord and tenant relationships, undertaking timely rent reviews, lease renewals, and new lettings of commercial, residential, and agricultural agreements.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of commercial projects and improving the financial and environmental sustainability of the estate.
  • Assist with potential development opportunities and enhancements to income from FC land or property.
  • Provide professional advice to colleagues in other departments and work with a wide range of stakeholders and partner organizations.
  • Support the District Building Surveyor in the delivery of asset maintenance programs and projects.
  • Assist in the management of litigation claims and legal matters, including protecting Forestry England's assets in relation to access, encroachments, boundary disputes, and claims.
  • Assist in the acquisition and disposal of land and property.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in land and property management, with a good understanding of planning, property, and compensation legislation. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and partner organizations.

You will be required to hold at least one of the following qualifications/memberships: qualified (or in the process of qualifying) as a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS/FRICS), ideally in rural practice. However, we would consider other pathways if you can demonstrate the pathway you have followed would be suitable for this role.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £37,485, plus a contribution towards your membership of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. You will also have access to a range of benefits, including learning and development opportunities, flexible working options, and a culture that encourages inclusion and diversity.

We are committed to providing a great place to work, and we offer a range of benefits to support your wellbeing, including discounted Civil Service Healthcare, access to an Employee Assistance Program 24/7, and a range of other benefits.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates. If you are interested in this role, please submit your application, including your CV and a covering letter, to [insert contact details].
