The Role

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our independent specialist provision supporting children aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will support the young people with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school's policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT
  • Implementing learning activities and experiences under the guidance of a teacher, aiming to support pupils in achieving their full potential in all areas of learning
  • Establishing positive relationships with pupils to support their learning and wellbeing
  • Collaborating with teachers to monitor, assess, record, and report pupils' progress
  • Providing meaningful feedback on pupil attainment and progress
Requirements

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant with:

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher
  • GCSE passes above C (or 4 in the new GCSE system) in English and Maths
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of working with pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD, and ASD
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
