London, Greater London, United Kingdom Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Camden Core Team is seeking a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to provide specialist assessment and intervention services to individuals with severe mental health problems.

The post-holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to increase the number of people whose mental health support is appropriately managed in line with the community framework for mental health.

The successful candidate will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and treatment using evidence-based, NICE-recommended interventions and will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

The North London Mental Health Partnership, formed between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, is a key driver of this service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide comprehensive psychology services as an integrated part of the Camden Core Team.
  2. Provide triage and specialist psychological assessment, formulation, consultation, and interventions for individuals with complex emotional needs.
  3. Provide direct clinical input and supervision of individual, group, or team brief interventions for complex emotional needs.
  4. Assist GPs with diagnosis, management plans, risk assessments, crisis plans, and self-help plans for service users with complex common mental health problems.
  5. Work with Core Team colleagues to develop a collaborative care model for service users with complex physical and emotional difficulties.
  6. Play a key role in implementing improved linkage and interface between Core and Intensive Teams.
  7. Provide advice and support to network teams on the management of service users who have been stepped down from secondary care or intensive community mental health services.
  8. Support primary care staff in their management and treatment of service users through case discussions, joint consultations, and bespoke training.
  9. Maintain effective communication with GP, primary care staff, service users, and their carers.
  10. Provide clinical input, where necessary, to multi-disciplinary case conferencing around complex presentations being managed solely in primary care within the team and as part of the wider integrated health and care networks.
  11. Engage with local service user participation models.
  12. Work within the MDT promoting respect for all professional groups and focusing on coherent and integrated teamwork.
  13. Provide reports and communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner concerning the assessment, formulation, and treatment offered and undertaken with service users.
  14. Manage and supervise psychologists, clinical associates, assistants, apprentices, and other staff as appropriate.
  15. Offer teaching, training, and undertake appropriate research, audits, and service evaluations to support service delivery and development.
