Job Title: Community Lead

This is a full-time salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, health insurance, and retirement plan.

The Community Lead will work in a hybrid environment, with a typical schedule of three days in the office and two days working remotely. The position offers flexibility, and employees are welcome to work from the office five days a week if preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of the organization's volunteer program, including planning, operations, and volunteer management.
  2. Establish and maintain partnerships with schools, organizations, and community groups to promote volunteer engagement and community outreach.
  3. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness in volunteer management, ensuring a positive volunteer experience and supporting organizational initiatives.
  4. Manage and mentor high school students involved in service projects, providing guidance and support to foster a positive volunteer experience.
  5. Oversee the Center's Toad Detour program, including social media management, training sessions, and scheduling of shift managers.
  6. Ensure accurate records of volunteer profiles, volunteer hours, and adherence to clearance requirements.
  7. Supervise and train Center staff on volunteer management, training, and relationships.
Community Outreach:
  1. Collaborate with staff on special projects and initiatives to enhance the organization's overall effectiveness and identify opportunities to engage with the community.
  2. Play a key role in establishing policies and procedures for the Gear Borrowing Program, ensuring smooth operation.
  3. Facilitate community meetings related to work at the Center.
  4. Cultivate and create collaborative partnerships with underserved communities and peer organizations sharing a similar mission of environmental education, stewardship, and connecting people to nature.
  5. Manage and contribute to data collection for grants for community-based programs and initiatives.
  6. Seek out grants and funding opportunities for community and volunteer programs.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The Community Lead will spend most of their time indoors but must be able to:

  1. Spend multiple hours outdoors in various weather conditions.
  2. Hike 2-5 miles on rough terrain, keeping pace with adults and children.
  3. Engage in sustained physical activity throughout the day.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have at least two years' experience in a comparable position in a similar institution. A strong grounding in natural sciences and environmental education is welcome but not required.
