Job Title: Academic Support Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Support Specialist to join our team at Randstad. As an Academic Support Specialist, you will work closely with students who have specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) to provide personalized academic support and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop customized learning plans to meet the specific needs of students
  • Provide one-to-one support to students to help them develop independence, build on strengths and learning strategies, and create strategies around organization and time management
  • Support students to create action plans to stay on track with their studies and build on research skills, including widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
  • Help students distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
  • Support students to build on comprehension skills within reading and writing

Requirements:

  • Membership with one of the following professional bodies: British Dyslexia Association (BDA), Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE), Dyslexia Guild, or The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload of students
