Job Overview

**GSL Education** is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic **Academic Support Assistant** to join our team of professionals supporting secondary schools in the UK.

**Job Summary:** As an Academic Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing academic support to students in a secondary setting. You will work under the supervision of subject teachers, assisting with lesson planning, delivering targeted support to students, and contributing to a positive learning environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • **Support Classroom Activities:** Assist teachers with lesson delivery, manage student behavior, and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • **Provide Targeted Support:** Offer one-on-one support to students, helping them understand lesson content and complete assignments.
  • **Prepare Learning Materials:** Assist with the preparation of learning materials, setting up equipment, and maintaining a well-organized classroom.
  • **Collaborate with Teachers:** Work closely with subject teachers to develop and implement effective lesson plans, ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed.

**Requirements:**

  • **University Degree:** Hold a degree in a subject taught at secondary level or a related field.
  • **Strong Interpersonal Skills:** Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to effectively interact with students, teachers, and other school staff.
  • **Proactive and Eager to Contribute:** Demonstrate a proactive and enthusiastic approach to supporting student learning, with a willingness to contribute to the development of a positive school culture.
  • **Ability to Work Under Guidance:** Show the ability to work effectively under the guidance of a lead teacher, following established protocols and procedures.

**Note:** This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS on the update service or completing an application for a new check.
