Key Responsibilities- Lead a range of complex planning casework to achieve strategic objectives.
- Negotiate proposals to deliver high-quality development in accordance with national guidance, planning law, and adopted local plans.
- Take decisions under the officer scheme of delegation for planning and other related applications.
- Provide clear direction to deliver strategic priorities and meet financial targets.
- Support senior colleagues at Area Planning and Strategic Planning Committees.
- Present applications for decision and update elected members on strategic sites and associated matters.
- Analyse and evaluate complex technical information to provide professional advice to statutory consultees, other departments, developers, and communities.
- Balance competing demands of other services and the viability of development to make recommendations and negotiate complex S106 agreements.
- Professional knowledge and experience in planning and development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
We support hybrid working and expect a presence at the office one day a week. This is a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.
