About the Job

Age UK Birmingham-1's Dementia Day Centre Activities Volunteer role involves supporting older adults living with dementia in a dynamic and caring environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Setup and prepare the centre for clients' arrival
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere and engage with clients through conversation and activities
  • Provide assistance with daily tasks, including bus transportation and domestic duties
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver dementia-friendly activities
  • Support clients in maintaining their independence and mobility
  • Report any concerns to the Day Centre Manager

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A willingness to learn about dementia and its effects
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, empathetic, and kind approach when interacting with older adults
  • Teamwork and reliability
  • Enthusiasm for engaging with older adults and supporting them in their daily lives

Training and Benefits

We offer comprehensive training, including online modules and in-person workshops.

Vaccination against Covid-19 is mandatory due to the nature of the role, and an Enhanced DBS check will be required.

Estimated Salary: £20,000 - £22,000 per year (pro-rata)
