Job Title: Trainee Safety Technician

UTAC Millbrook is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Safety team as a Trainee Safety Technician. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance in the laboratory, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare vehicles and test rigs for safety tests, adhering to customer requirements and safety protocols.
  • Perform mechanical fitting of equipment to vehicles and test rigs, ensuring accurate and precise installation.
  • Set up high-speed cameras and computer-controlled data acquisition systems for test filming and data collection.
  • Collect and download data during tests, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Set up crash dummies and ensure they are properly secured for testing.
  • Liaise with UTAC engineers to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Work from established procedures and protocols to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • GCSE or equivalent qualification.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering apprenticeship (desirable).
  • Basic computing skills and experience with general hand tools.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills and basic maths and computing abilities.
  • Ability to learn specific, practical techniques and apply knowledge to solve problems and create solutions.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Requirements:
  • Prepared to work overtime as required.
  • Flexibility to travel as and when required.
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport (UTAC Millbrook is not easily accessible via public transport).
  • SC clearance or ability to achieve this (UK national with residency in the UK for the last 5 years).
  • Willingness to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check.
