Historic Buildings Preservation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Historic Buildings Preservation Specialist to join our Development Advice Team in Cambridge. This is a Part Time (0.6FTE), Permanent post offering Hybrid working arrangements.
The estimated salary for this role is £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Job DescriptionIn this role, you will provide expert advice on proposals for change in the historic environment, applying the ethos of 'constructive conservation' and making effective use of Conservation Principles.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across teams to deliver high-quality advice to owners, local authorities, and other stakeholders, ensuring the sustainable management of the historic environment.
This involves undertaking pre-application discussions, negotiating creative solutions to problems, and providing formal planning and management advice on buildings and historic areas.
You will also contribute to specific projects where your expertise would add value, such as the Places strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert advice on proposals for change in the historic environment
- Applying the ethos of 'constructive conservation' and using Conservation Principles
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across teams
- Negotiating creative solutions to problems
- Delivering high-quality advice to stakeholders
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Broad and extensive experience of managing change to historic buildings and areas
- Thorough knowledge of secular and ecclesiastical architectural history and the morphology of historic places in England
- Thorough knowledge of legislation and planning policy in England, relating to secular and ecclesiastical buildings, historic places, and infrastructure
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
