Job Title: Practice Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Practice Nurse to join our team at Acklam Medical Centre. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our practice.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing routine tasks related to patient care, including cytology, wound care, and chronic disease management. You will work closely with our GPs and Nurse Manager to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs/Nurse Manager
  • Cytology
  • Wound care / ulcer care/Doppler
  • Removal of Sutures
  • Urinalysis
  • Travel Clinic
  • ECGs
  • Chronic disease management in line with QOF requirements
  • Venepuncture
  • Hypertension Management
  • Ear syringing
  • Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
  • Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
  • Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
  • Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate
  • Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
  • Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
  • Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
  • Ordering of stock
  • Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
  • Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
  • At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
  • A duty to advise the Practice Manager of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
  • Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
  • On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
  • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
Requirements:
  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Registered Nurse with Active Registration
  • Independent Nursing Experience
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Desirable: Qualified in Chronic Diseases (Diabetes, Asthma, COPD)
